Good Day Colorado on Fox31

Every weekday morning I wake up and turn on the TV to catch up with my local news for an hour before I head off to work. Fox31 Morning News has this program called "Question of the Day" and you can write in and tell them your thoughts on the question they asked. This morning the question was about Ward Churchill and if he should be fired. After people using all the immigration debates, car accidents and child molestations as a vehicle for their ignorance I thought it was about time I gave them my two cents. Below is the e-mail I wrote which was read on-air by Shaul Turner around 8:20 this morning.

As a recent graduate of CU I had the privilege of experiencing the craziness of its professors first hand. Ward isn't their biggest problem. CU has everything from name calling Atheists to strict, self centered Mormons teaching the student body. If every paper was published that they've ever written Ward would be taking a back seat in this controversy. Don't we have more important things to worry about than a paper some crazy professor wrote years ago? The majority of this state really needs to grow up.

saddest story

Below is a comment I received on my pro-anorexia post yesterday. Just terrible. My heart goes out to all victims of abuse.

I am a father of a 17 year old girl with anorexia. She has been in treatment at a facility now for 8 months. She is currently on a 2 week home pass. It's unbearable. This poor girl has gone through such a tramatic experience, I dont know if she will ever recover. She was a great basketball star. She played for a team that has gone to state championships for 11 years straight. After a good start as a freshman, she decided that she didnt want to play anymore in the middle of her sophomore year. Then she started cutting, and starving herself. We had lost her. We sent her to a treatment facilty for help. Well, 8 months later, I wonder if she is any better. It came out that this highschool basketball coach raped her numerous times since she was 14. I cant believe we were blind to what was going on. We always thought we made the right decisions for our family. This basketball program was the best in the state. This bastard really screwed her up.
If I can tell parents anything, watch your kids. Dont trust anyone. YOu know what is best for them. Dont let a man screw them up like this coach did my daughter. Men make stupid moves. They cant keep their dicks in their pants, sometimes they use extensive plans to get a young girl. This coach did. Now there is not a damn thing anyone can do. Its just his word against hers. She (and her family) is taking the burden for it now. We spend $750 a day for a treatment facility, frankly I dont see an improvement. Sometimes I think it would be better to just move to the middle of nowhere and start over with nothing. I have seen the parents at these facilities struggle. They are just like us. They have perfect kids, something triggers that kid to do this. They love their children so much, they give every earthly posession to treatment. The kids never realize what their parents gave. I saw some that went from middle class to living in an apartment and just getting by day to day. Kids, girls, I dont know how to tell you to wake up, I can't tell my own daughter.

myspace

So I finally did the myspace thing. It really is amazing. Great way to keep in touch with people and see what's going on locally. I almost feel a little special when someone I knew finds me. I've even had family find me on myspace. It's getting so popular it's become a new verb. "Just myspace me later." I wonder if they felt the same way about the phone in the early 1900s. I wonder what my grandkids will have.
