eclipse

I hardly slept at all last night and I couldn't figure out why. Today while walking to the bus stop I saw the largest full moon I've ever seen hovering just over the mountains. Then, as if it waited for me, when I stopped to admire the moon a lunar eclipse began. The moon started to disappear from the bottom up. Within just a few minutes it had disappeared altogether. I've never seen anything like it.

4 for 4

I ride the light rail every day with my friend Don. To make the time go faster Don has mentioned a few attractive women we see on a pretty regular basis and we have talked briefly about each one of them. One day new attractive women stopped showing up so we didn't speak about them anymore but Don would still notice whenever we saw one of the previous said women. Eventually it came to watching for them every day. This has been going on for about a month with one of the women never being seen since those first light rail days. Each day Don would tell me, "Dom, we're 2 for 4 today". Or something similar.

Well, today we saw all of them. There are only four but today was the first day Don saw each one. Then, to make it even worse for the poor guy they all boarded the same car we were on. I think he was beside himself.

Now I've only got to get him to speak to them.

note: This post was merely meant to describe my friend's comical nature and the self torture he puts himself through with the girls he likes. Besides, the women he finds attractive are 30+ and have no dark features which in my book (if I were single) would make it a deal breaker.

first friday

Of course the weather is shitty today because Nicole and I want to attend First Friday on Santa Fe. I can't tell you how many times we've been rain or snowed out. It sucks outside.

bionic dolphin

This is the coolest thing I've seen all year and it's been out for close to ten!!

I want one.

bring it lady winter

You've already abused me with sub-zero temperatures when walking to work, feet of snow while trying to move, and hazardous driving conditions on those days when I did try and drive. You've got nothing else to throw at me. In fact, I welcome a power outage or two. Summer is almost here and you can't do anything about it.

Suck me winter.

false alarm

Meteorologists are highly educated and very well paid guessers at best. There was no 6-12 inches of snow when I awoke this morning like they had promised. Then, as if to rub it in my face, not even so much as an apology from them on today's news.

If I told my boss the project will be done by this Wednesday and then on Wednesday I came to him and said, "Hey boss, make that some Wednesday in June" I'd be fired.

spring songs

Each year I develop an attachment, or I might even venture so far as to call it a "crush", on a particular artist/album/or few songs. Last year at this time it was the new Saves The Day album with which I abused my ears thoroughly. This year it seems to be The Postal Service. You've heard them in the latest UPS commercials and if you're unfamiliar with the commercials you'd recognize Ben Gibbard's voice from Death Cab For Cutie.

Anyway, they've currently got me dancing at the bus stops and dreaming of the first summer I'm going to spend with my new wife. Check them out if they sound interesting: The Postal Service @ myspace

april shooters bring may flowers?

I just learned of the latest school shooting. This time it's at Virgina Tech and it takes the cake with 22 dead so far. I was just thinking about all the media that will be generated from this. First will come all the news television and paper headlines. The CNN scroller will be busy updating America to the latest gory details. Then will come the weekly magazine covers (always pictures of students hugging and crying) like TIME and Newsweek filling in a few more details but this time with lots of photos to back them up. Next will be the special reports from the news programs once most of the details have come in. Finally, there will be a TV movie or independant film revolving around the story being followed up quite a good deal of time later by the "Final Report" type of TV program which takes into account a new angle on the whole situation plus all the previous information.

It makes me sick.

i love my STD

Saves The Day tonight! Man am I excited. They've got a new album coming out relatively soon so I hope we get to hear a few new songs. This week has all been in anticipation of this concert and just flew by.

I've got a good feeling about tonight as if the concert gods feel that they've fucked with us enough. We're going to have an awesome time.

my weekend

I think I was looking forward to this last weekend a bit too much. I always enjoy a Saves The Day show but this time they came on at 8:00 and were off by 8:30 leaving us standing there, slightly buzzed wondering what the hell we were going to do. I think we just ended up consuming. Consuming food, and drinks and more food and more drinks. So much food I didn't get drunk from the drinks and just ended up hating myself for spending too much money.

Also, since I get up at 5:00am every weekday my body freaks when I sleep passed 8:00am on Saturday. Then because I got up at 8:00am I check out mentally around 9:00pm which is exactly the state I was in for Jessica and April's house warming party. Tired and barely buzzed enough to just be real boring.

Sunday I slept in late enough to not be able to fall asleep before 10:00pm which made it fun getting up at 5:00am today. Also, my disrespectful sister got what was coming to her yesterday so she felt like she needed to hurt Nicole which just made those last few hours of my weekend awesome.

I guess I shouldn't bitch so much. It wasn't all bad. I did really like all the people that showed up at Jessica and April's party on Saturday and I got to see Dion really, really, really drunk. Plus, on Sunday I got to play in my dad's garage with power tools (I hope I didn't make you too mad Nicole).

In the end it wasn't the worst weekend I've ever had. I suppose if I had to clean puke off walls and carpet it would have been much worse.

rain, no shine

Damn am I grumpy today. Ever have everything annoy you? I almost yelled at the bus driver for hitting the brakes too hard. The cold rain doesn't make it better either.

I'm going to try and change my frame of mind.

dog day

I wish I was playing with my dog right now. Instead, I'm trying to remain focused at work and he's either sleeping or destroying something.

ever been so emo when drunk it hurts?

This is for every good friend and every friend who feels I've forgot to mention them.

Disclaimer: I am sending this to those who I know will not judge me. Therefore, I feel I am fortunate to have friends like you. Perhaps tomorrow I will wake and regret every word, but that's not how I roll. I'm here because you made me who I am. In the very drunk words of Dominic Filosa, "Thank You". This is as sincere as it gets. Perhaps it makes no sense to you right now, but Dan Mayer has taught me one thing: Drunks expell cryptic honesty. Yeah... drunk honesty! Thanks for listening. You've only taught me to be a better person.

I.E. Blog Post April 28th, 6:07 am

According to Dan "Energy Drink" Man, I have (Off the top of my own head) crazy good topics to discuss, thus, there have been mentioned items to talk about (on separate blog occasions).

It has been my goal since the initiation of this blog to create a forum in which people could discuss popular, relevant or confrontational, or personal topics of my choosing without hesitation. I would like any person from afar (or any ideal for that matter) to express any ideal or any idea freely at their whim...

Personally, most recent of which being Erin Miller's post about the trials and tribulations she has personally witnessed in Honduras. I must admit there are times in my life when I feel as though I'm a victim. I think if one were to examine the many situations in their personal life they would find a situation similar to what the less fortunate have found (mainly privileged white people (or a superior class) leading a safe suburban life(of which I am much a part of). But, if the privileged (or moderately abused/normal as I like to call them) can lead a "normal" life what does that mean for the privileged and underprivileged? When considering the friends I have made from all walks of life I have discovered that regarding familial social status the key adolescent problems remain the same. I.E. Severe Depression, Emotional disturbances, lude behavior and inability to control primitive (or not so primitive) urges. In a personal psychological study what remains the constant across these very different thresholds? I've personally discovered age has something to do with it all but what makes parents lose all motivational criticism for their younger children? It may be 5:30 am but in the recent hours I've probed the depths of single male parents, their responsibility and where I fit in with it all contributing to their system. I think people in my position (those with an unguided younger sibling, of which there are many) need a little help. These parents are the first (like my father) to pioneer new forms of single young sibling discipline.

While I could go in indefinitely about this subject I must leave you with my thoughts or I'll end up talking to the padded walls of an insane asylum. However, (If you've even made it this far) I agree there is a summation or "ending" and that is: " We all must be adults at some point. And whatever it takes to get us there is our own decision. There is no right or wrong answer. Just our own ambition."

So, weather it cleaning carpets (doing better than most of the same status making $50K+ a year) or making $20k a year pursuing your dreams in whatever field you choose it's all worth it. I'd hate to die never knowing I gave it everything I've got risking life and limb to pursue what I thought was my proper course in life.

-Dominic

PS on a side note - I think Americans work much too hard for what they've got. If you've ever studied the Europeans you'll discover they've learned much greater things with merely a few hours productive work when compared to Americans. If you pursue what makes you happy success is inevitable.

With that, good luck to all my friends who are chasing that dream. You only live once. May you find life and love in our short interim before the big sleep. I feel as though I've been fortunate enough to find my reason for being here, regardless of our outcome or any accomplishments. I've found her and I couldn't ask for anything more. I hope you are as fortunate.

Love you all again,

-Dom™ F

PSS- Caruso, Please forward to Dion as I don't know his pompus e-mail address nor do I request his narcistic judgement. Whatever his comment I will hold those very few words of encouragement he's given (no matter the occasion) me close to my heart.

simply unbelievable

Whoa. That was amazing. I think I began that thought at like 3:00am and it took me three hours to type. Pretty cohesive, but I suppose anything you take that kind of time to type should be, no matter what your condition. I've been reading too much about the mexican poetic movement of the 70s (great book called The Savage Detectives). Lots of pain and really no gain. Just a bunch of poor, starving, whiny bitches.

I do suppose a drunk e-mail is far superior to the drunk dial. It leaves the recipient able to interact at their own leisure. Thanks for listening! And stay tuned for more unavoidable drunken typing because I know your e-mail.
