Apparently she spoke about this on the Today show and cited nerves as the reason she botched her answer. But when they gave her the chance to give her real answer, after days of contemplation and without the pressure of the pageant, her response was:
"Personally, my friends and I, we know exactly where the United States is on a map. I don't know anyone else who doesn't. If the statistics are correct, I believe there should be more emphasis on geography in our education so people will learn how to read maps better."
Yikes!

This KILLED me. Such as....such as....Iraq...South Africa...United States Americans....Whoever her coach was just taught her how to buy time to answer a question and then forget to give her a brain to actually contemplate a valid answer.
