silly kids

First, God damn is it cold.

Second, anyone remember what a goofball you were in middle school? The painful process of trying to discover your own identity and looking like an idiot while doing it?

In 6th or 7th grade my friends mother bought me a Dennis Rodman jersey and matching shorts. I was so in love with my outfit I wore it nearly every day. Then, to make matters worse I thought it would be a good idea to cut all my long hair off and just leave the bangs, you know, like the Mexican gangsters used to do. Then, couple that with my sweet pair of Nike Cortez (the gangster nikes) and I was the definition of middle-school-retard.

I remember wanting all that stuff so I could feel like my Mexican peers and maybe blend in a little and avoid all the crap they'd been giving me. Now, I realize it probably only made them beat me up more.

Here's to being an adolescent goofball!

I have to say I can't really relate -- I was cool in Middle School. It's all been downhill since, though...

that's funny because i had the exact opposite problem. According to my fellow latinos i tried too hard to look "white" and all the mexican kids hated me for it. oh and also, i almost got stabbed. I was not cool in middle school.
