Did you hear about the global recession? Unrest in the Middle East? Violence in our streets? It can make your head spin, your stomach turn, and your mind sick.
I quit the news.
I haven't watched, read, or listened to any news in two weeks. I don't feel less informed, less connected, or withdrawn. I feel at peace. I'm no longer taking spoonfuls of fear from mass media puppeteers. I'm not participating in a global recession and the weight of the world does not belong on my shoulders.
Maybe I'm just living a life of ignorance, walking the streets in my self-imposed bubble. Please refrain from popping it, because, baby, THIS IS BLISS.

Man, I've been in HELL this entire time! I've been getting more of my fill from CNN, MSNBC and the local news. Maybe I'm a sucker for pain. But I know where you're coming from in that I have to turn off the TV or go to Comedy Central to take a break from all the bad news.
At least turn in your local weather so you don't get accidentally rained on :)

my Iphone gives me the weather so that made it easier to let go of the morning news. I used watch it so I'd know how to dress for the weather, but here in L.A. the weather doesn't change much :)
Its much easier to focus on the good things in life when you're not being inundated with bad news. If you're up for it, take a news fast. I thought I'd only do it for a week but I'm approaching week 3 and its actually quite nice!

I never watch the local news. I absolutely despise it actually! And I am definitely more content with life since doing so. I can't stand anymore of the entertainment aspect of it all for lack of actual informative, unbiased, slightly boring newcasts. grrr.....
